[...] What about the processing key? Recent discussions, tests and user reports over on Doom9 seem to indicate that the HD DVD processing key has been discovered. So why is this significant? This is interesting because now it should be possible to decrypt virtually ALL HD DVD discs by using this processing key + the volume ID of each HD DVD disc. According to the discussions, the volume ID should be easily found or possibly even “guessed”. Is this how the new AnyDVD HD application works? Only Slysoft knows the answer to that. At any rate, I expect to see a newer BackupHDDVD type utility released in the near future that does not require a Volume Unique Key database file or the manual input of an HD DVD Volume Unique Key. The next generation DRM wars continue… [...]

Great point d.chatten. Imagine buying an HD DVD to play on your PC, and then you find that you are unable to play it back due to some pesky HDCP requirement! AnyDVD HD to the rescue.

There is one other nice feature that AnyDVD HD will have, because this app will decrypt on the fly then you will be able to view HD content on a TV/Monitor at full HD resolution even if your graphics card and tv/monitor has no support for HDCP, very nice indeed.

Hi Pomacat. I agree that AnyDVD is a great app. The introduction of AnyDVD HD will introduce EASY HD DVD backup capabilities to the masses.
