Copy Blu-ray freeware
The day after I posted my article about DVD Fab HD Decrypter supporting HD DVD copy functions for free, Fengtao software announced that a newer version now provides Blu-ray copy functionality. So what is the price for running this easy to use, Blu-ray copy software? Nothing! Now you can copy Blu-ray Disc titles using an easy to use freeware software. You can download the freeware DVD Fab HD Decrypter with Blu-ray and HD DVD copy support from here.
Other Copy Blu-ray software options
BackupBluray, an open source, command line utility has been available for awhile now, but it is a fairly complicated process to copy Blu-ray discs with. We have even published a guide here on WesleyTech that explains how to use BackupBluray. You can read the BackupBluray guide here if you are interested. If you thought BackupBluray was too complicated, you could also test out a free trial of AnyDVD HD, an easy to use commercial product that allows users to easily copy HD DVD and Blu-ray discs. Found via CDFreaks.
Update: CDBurnerXP now supports burning to Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD recordable formats.

Do you need any special burners to copy blu-ray?

Yes Art, you will need a BD-ROM (Read Only) drive at the least. To make a backup to a recordable BD-R/RE disc, you’ll need a Blu-ray burner.

[…] CDBurnerXP is back! 3 years after the last release, CDBurnerXP has returned, completely rewritten in VB.net. This new release fixes many, many issues with the old version, including DVD-video burning issues and a whole lot more. To add to all of this, the program now supports burning to Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD recordable formats! The initial release for this new version (4.0), occurred on September 22nd. I scooped up the first release as soon as it became available and I can confirm that burning ISO images of DVD-Video discs now functions correctly. With any new major release such as this, there are bound to be some bugs and issues. Knowing this, the CDBurnerXP development team has included error reporting within the application, to allow users to notify them of issues. And this error reporting has certainly been utilized. Just one week after the initial release, the CDBurnerXP team has released an update (4.0.0.15), which has resolved many of the bugs reported by the user community. Get your free CD/DVD/HD DVD/Blu-ray burning software I have always enjoyed the CDBurnerXP software, but it was a shame that many of the features did not function correctly. This new version fixes all those annoying problems and adds a whole lot more. Any individuals or businesses can download and use CDBurnerXP completely free of charge. Get it at CDBurnerXP.se and start burning away those recordable discs till your hearts’ content. I have also added CDBurnerXP to my posts about free HD DVD copy software and free Blu-ray copy software. If you are looking for some free software that can handle the next generation optical formats, have a look at these previous posts. I tried using DVDFab HD Decrypter 4.1.2.0. It wouldn’t even recognize a Bluray DVD. I then tried to report this to DVDFab using their support tab on their web site, but it kept saying the security key I entered was invalid and would refresh (erase) the screen, which included erasing all the information I had entered on reporting the problem.
Seems like their product sucks and their support sucks. Two thumbs down for my firest impressions.
