Porn is already on Blu-ray Disc
A WesleyTech.com contact in Japan has notified me that porn is indeed already available on the Blu-ray Disc format. At least in Japan, the adult film studio “Glayz” already produces and distributes content on Blu-ray Disc, HD DVD and UMD. http://www.glayz.co.jp/glayz.html (Warning: this is an adult website with nude content).
This is contrary to previous industry reports and rumors that Sony might not allow any pornographic content on Blu-ray disc. So what is the significance of this? Porn was a major force in the past format war
But Glayz is only one studio after all… Sony could still block and prevent US based porn companies from producing their content on Blu-ray disc and CES reports indicate that the adult film industry now prefers the HD DVD format. Nevertheless, this is interesting news and it sheds light on the possibility that Blu-ray Disc might have porn content appearing on their format after all…

Yes Captain Obvious, if adult film content appears in the USA on Blu-Ray Disc, then the only exclusive HD DVD content provider for the North American market would be Universal Studios…

Good point BS and thanks for your reply. As I stated in the article, this does not yet apply to the US market, so the exclusive comment is relative. I have updated my previous comment for clarity.
I definitely realize that the Japanese and the North American/European markets are completely seperate and distinct entities, each with their own exclusive products. The reason that this news is particularly interesting is because there was much speculation and many rumors suggesting that Sony was attempting to block any and all pornographic content on the Blu-ray Disc format. As I stated in the article, it is still possible that Sony could block pornographic content from entering the US market on Blu-Ray disc.

If an Adult Content Film studio really wants to get their films produced on Blu-ray Disc, then it is possible to do so. WesleyTech was one of the first English sites to report that porn already exists on Blu-ray Disc in Japan, so this comes at no shock to us. Vivid will be releasing Debbie Does Dallas…Again on Blu-ray and HD DVD in North America in March or April, so obviously there are Blu-ray production lines that can press adult content.

Now that blu-ray is the clear winner or the next generation format war I think we will be seeing a lot more porn on blu-ray real soon.
