Venturer HD DVD player now on pre-sale

Venturer HD DVD player now on pre-sale

An update to the previously reported news of the “generic” HD DVD player set to market this holiday season:

Mega-retailer Target has put the Venturer SHD7000 for pre-sale on their website (view it here). It is listed to ship in 2 to 6 weeks at a price of $249.99 USD. Venturer had previously announced an MSRP of $199 and confirmed it with us directly, so this higher price is surprising.

Considering you can get a name-brand Toshiba player from Costco or Amazon for the same price, the value of this player is questionable. I imagine it will hit $199 by Black Friday, but it’s still not much cheaper than the Toshiba, and that one comes with up to nine free movies.
