My Playstation 3 died yesterday

My Playstation 3 died yesterday

So I’m bummed. I just finish watching a Blu-ray version of Sony Picture’s The Fall and start working on something else while my brother-in-law starts playing LEGO Batman. I wasn’t paying attention as I was preoccupied but the system turned off and he left the room so I figured he was done playing. I turned off the TV and receiver. A couple minutes later my brother-in-law comes back in and asks why I turned the PS3 off.

I grab the Sixaxis controller and try to power the PS3 on, but the lights on the controller just blink. Next I tried the button on the front of the console. The green light flashed followed by a yellow light once and then the red light blinked continuously until I flipped the power switch on the rear. A few tries resulted in the same.

I found this video on YouTube showing exactly what I’m getting.

The next step is to call Sony at 1-800-345-SONY (7669) and see what they have to say. From the looks of online forums I’ll have to send it in to be replaced. I’ve had this console for about a year-and-a-half so I don’t know if they’ll cover it under warranty or not.

  1. Yeah, Mine went yesterday too. I am a year and 2 months in. They need to fix this. I have spent over 1200 dollars in Sony equipment. SONY….step up and fix this problem for free. We didn’t pay 500 bucks for 1 year of gaming!

If they don’t I am switching to microsoft!

  2. If you bought it under a credit card, some extend the warranty on purchased items an additional year. Check your credit card documentation or call customer service to inquire.

  3. Unfortunately I got the first one free and the one that I just sent back was the replacement from the first one.

I don’t know if Microsoft is any better. My brother went through two Xbox 360s in one week and my boss is on his fourth in the past year.

  4. I just was watching gran torino on bluray when all of a sudden, my playstation 3 made a loud buzzing noise and shut off along with my t.v. The playstation 3 will not turn on or make any indication of life. The t.v.is fine, but I’m not sure why it turned off. Anyway,I have only had my ps3 for 5 months and gran torino for 2 hrs. Gran torino is stuck in the ps3, I have no idea what to do and I want help. My email address is budster82@yahoo.com if anyone knows what to do, please send info.
