Netflix pleased with Blu-ray growth

Netflix LogoAmongst the economic downturn, Netflix is having a stronger-than expected quarter. The number of subscribers opting for Blu-ray has reached over 500,000. The Blu-ray subscription is $1.00 more per month than the regular price.

In spite of the economic woes, Blu-ray sales are growing and expected to be a top performer in electronics this quarter. In the year of the “staycation,” spending has increased on stay-at-home activities. Netflix is seeing strong growth, expecting to reach 9-million subscribers by years end. Netflix CFO Barry McCarthy compares their success to bargain retailer Walmart. “The economy has very much been our friend,” he said.
